I was very young about 10 years old and was in 4th standard. I am not very intelligent but yes I am hard working. At that time I was in Marathi medium. We have to learn English so that doors of knowledge will open for us. My first dream was to get Semi- English in school. Semi -English was allowed for only some intelligent girls in the school. I just wanted to be one of them.
I was from a small village where education was not very important. My parents were shifted to Pune, to make their daughters (me and my younger sister) educated and independent. In village I had never seen notebook and pen. We were using slate and pencil. After coming to Pune I need to write everything with fast speed on notebook. It was bit difficult for a village girl. Every day I used to sit after a class and copy the missed things from my friend's notebook.
Another problem was my accent. All were laugh at me because at that. My teacher called my mother every week to complain about my accent. She told my mother, "Trupti is not suitable in this school. You can choose a municipal school for her". At that time, I was very sad and my mother too. She helped me in completing my homework every day.
Within a moth of joining school, unit test was held. As expected I got last rank (64) in the exam. My mother encouraged me to work hard. Not to lose hopes. In 2nd unit test I got 51st rank. In semester exam, I got 37th rank. Slowly I improved on my accent as well. In 3rd unit test I got 31 ranks. In 4th unit test, I do not remember exactly but it is something around 21 or 27. In final exam I got 4th rank in a class. It was definitely not bad. My teacher was very impressed by myprogress. She asked me to participate in program on Radio as I have improved very well in my accent. I participated and after program I got check of Rs.100. That was First income of my life.
My aunt insisted principle to put me in 'A' Div for 5th standard by looking at my progress. She is convinced and now I am in 'A' div; with those intelligent girls. I was feeling very nice but I was not able to maintain it. I got 'C' div in 6th standard. I decided to work hard and got 'B' div in 7thand now my dream was ahead of Me. I wanted semi English in 8th standard. I worked very hard and got 'A' div . I was in 8th'A' - Semi English batch. Finally I completed my first dream. :)
